Shade your house and keep cool this summer

Shading a house is the best way to beat the heat and stay cool this summer
Looking for ways to shade a house is not only smart for your own comfort, but also for your electricity bill. You no longer have to swelter in summer just to keep your electricity bill at bay, there are many steps you can take to help shade a house, some of which you might not have even considered.
As a shade provider myself, shading a house is something I know a lot about, so in this article I’ll share with you some of my own personal tips that I use at my place which you can implement to help shade and cool your home.
Read on as I put forth some great tips that can help shade a house and keep cool this summer.
Plants
Planting trees, shrubs and vines around windows and air conditioning units are an excellent way to shade a house and keep it cool from the sweltering summer heat. Not only do plants help keep sunlight out of your home, but they can also help shade the exteriors, keeping your home much cooler than it otherwise would have been. Consider planting deciduous trees, which provide shade during the summer and shed their leaves during the cooler months to let sunlight in. Vines and shrubs also work as great insulators and can keep a house cool by at least 3 to 6 degrees during the summers.
Shade Sails & Awnings
Installing awnings and shade sails are another great and affordable way to shade a house. Shade sails and awnings can reduce heat gain up to 77%. Shades and awnings should be installed around the west facing windows, where the heat is a maximum. Awnings and shade sails, such as the ones we have here at Global Shade, come in a variety of colours and designs and prove to be one of the most cost-effective ways of keeping your home cool. These structures can also make your home look more attractive and can increase the value of your house considerably.
Close the Drapes
You can also shade a house from the indoors, by remembering to close the drapes during the hottest part of the day. Drapes help in keeping the sun’s heat out from your home and are an effective way of making your air conditioners and fans work more efficiently. Remember to make use of light coloured fabric drapes, which reflect the most sunlight.
Reflect the Sun
Which brings me to my next tip; reflecting sunlight off the roof and walls of a home works wonders in keeping your house cool. You should consider painting your roof and walls with reflective paint (or white paint), which not only reflects off light, but also reflects UV rays and infrared radiation, making a considerable amount of difference to the amount of heat that reaches within a home.
I’ve listed out some of the tips and tricks that I personally use to shade my house and keep it cool. By following these tips, you can reduce the amount of sunlight reaching your home and can keep it significantly cooler during summer. You can also install other shade solution products that we offer at Global Shade, which can all keep you and your home cooler this summer.
Conclusion:
There are a number of ways you can shade a house and keep cool during the summers. The best way to keep cool is to block out the sunshine by making use of shade solutions. Shade solutions can increase the efficiency of your fans and ACs and you will also save on energy costs.
