How to choose the right Awning

To arrive at the perfect awning for your shade solution, you must always keep two things in mind – the type of awning you are going to use, and the colour or print of the awning. Each situation is going to be different, but you can be sure that there is one combination that is going to be your perfect choice as a shade solution.

The type of awning will determine how you greet your customers, clients or guests. Here are a few basic types.

  • The Convex Awning: This awning is shaped like the top fourth of a circle, with the arm extension as the radius of the awning.
  • The Traditional Awning: The traditional awning is square-shaped, extending to a minimum of eight inches from your door. It provides only a minimum amount of protection, more for decorative purposes than a shelter extension.
  • The Dome Awning: An awning shaped like a half-dome over your doorway.
  • The Circular Entrance: This entrance is both functional and decorative – a half circle extending from the doorway up to the advised three and a half meters for the shade.
  • The Lateral Arm or the Stationary Canopy: This awning is often used not to enhance entrances, but to extend a portion of the structure by its side. Perfect when placed on the sunnier sides of the home or building.

After the right type of awning, you have the luxury of the colour or pattern of the awning. An awning for a red carpet treatment, for example, might be better in the more luxurious and enhancing colours of gold or red, whereas a green or blue coloured awning is more for relaxation and the calming effect of colors. After using colour psychology for your awning, you can even look into printed awnings – these are possible advertisement placements, positioned in that spot that everyone can see it – right outside your structure.
